Villa LANA – Sarajevo
A house in the forest, as we call it, is a 800 square meter villa located in Poljine, near the center of Sarajevo. It is designed as a two story house. Villa Lana is a simple composition of clean, straight lines, and a good balance of transparency and natural light with closed residential areas.
The villa consists of private spaces on the second floor and public spaces on the ground level that are open to the surrounding views of nature. The dominant glass panel with steel frames in the living room is two story high and overlooks the Poljine hills with its forest.
The key factor in the design process of the villa is its position along the steep slope and the direction of the sun. The material palette of the project is minimal, with an emphasis on lightness and transparency; glass, wood and steel finishes mirror the natural colors and beauty of the surrounding forest and bring nature inside, creating a warm and welcoming environment.
