Apartment Interior Project, Melbourne 2020
A well-designed apartment should combine functionality with aesthetics, cozyness with comfort and luxury with elegance in ways that seem natural and should be a display of its owners’ character, attitude and life style. The main task while designing this apartment in Melbourne, Australia was combining the atmosphere of a metropolis and a relaxed vibe, which is achieved by using floor to ceiling windows with modern and comfortable furniture.
The floor plan is organized into two zones separated by the hallway. On one side there’s the day zone and on the other lies the night zone. The day area includes the three usual spaces: living room, dining area and kitchen while the night volume is composed of bedroom and bathroom spaces.
Only natural materials were used throughout. They mostly include wood, glass, stone and metal.
The social zone is large and open. A spacious lounge space occupies a big section of the floor plan. It features a comfortable sectional beige sofa and a grez rug area. Massive coffee table is a statement piece, made of white marble. A little bit of color is added to this zone by deep blue lounge chair.
Light and breezy curtains can cover up the large windows without completely blocking the view or the light. They feature a discreet pattern and a warm color that matches the rest of the color palette in this volume.
The night zone is defined by similar characteristics. The master bedroom features a glass partition which separates it from the en-suite bathroom. It’s a layout that’s specific to contemporary interiors and which emphasizes the overall openness of the décor.
